Default Choke issue or balance issue or no issue?

My bike never gets over 2200 rpm with the choke on, when it gets good throttle response I can take the choke fully off and it idles fine about 1400 and has great throttle response. Could the choke be so low because it needs better balance on the carbs? Looking for other opinions before do anything it starts quick idles great runs great only needs choke for 30-45 seconds but never gets higher than 2200 rpm it use to get around 4K like I hear everyone else talk about. Thoughts? Thanks

What RPM does it idle at when it's at normal operating temperature?

Sounds like something that doesn't need fixing. If your only using it for 30 seconds why does it matter? When the bikes cold you really dont want to be over revving it anyway.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking I just left it as is but still its just interesting and I'm curious to know why it's doing this, it's been extra cold and it hasn't taken but a minute Or two to warm up to the point I can take the choke off and I have good throttle response so it runs fine just wondering why it's not choking like it use to before swapping the pilots. And it idles around 1400 rpm

I would think a idle @ 1400rpm when fully warmed up is a bit fast.

It can/will idle lower but it just sounds best and is most stable at about 1400 manual says 1200 +- 200 so it's the upper limit but still in spec I guess I could do a 1/4 turn on mixture screws and see if it sounds better at a lower idle, but I get good throttle response where the mixture screws are at now. I'm still thinking about warming it up and doing another balance check see if I can't improve it a little more but it does run good on the current balance

If it runs good, maybe best to leave it as is, after all 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it', is a great motto.

Yeah that's true I just want to make it run the best I can, I checked the balance and #1 was pulling more vacuum than the rest so I improved the balance and it looks pretty good now. I might try to enriched the mixture screws a little, biggest problem I have with that is the manual talks about increments of 50 rpm but that's so small how am I supposed to measure that? I followed factory pro tuning guide when setting the current jets needle position and mixture screws, it has great throttle response and doesn't dip or lag after revved which makes me feel good but I would like to be able to measure and set them according to the manual if possible but I haven't been able to accurately measure 50 rpm increments... Digital equipment has lag if they can even measure that precise and the analog doesn't have that small of marks

I think you'd need to have some specialist equipment to be so accurate and you may not even notice the difference.

I have an Actron bench tach that will allow you to do what you are wanting. I've been very happy with it. I think it cost $25-$30 USD.
