Default Smashed!!

Well it happened, a ******** pulled a u-turn in front of me and I could do nothing but try to lessen the impact as much as I could. End of story, front of bike is smashed up totally, I am fine though. Couple of questions;
1. Both me and the driver are uninsured, how do i go about getting him to fix/pay for the damage?
2. How do I go about working out a list of things that need to be repaired? Go through the Honda parts list and write part numbers down or just take it to a smaash repairer?
3. Is it more worthwhile parting it out and buying a new one?

Thanks!

Your situation is exactly why I keep coverage on my bike for collision.

First thing you need to do is get it to a shop and have them do an estimate. A Honda dealer is preferred. Second, you need to find out state laws in regards to suing the other driver for the amount of the damage plus whatever gear you were wearing. If he doesn't agree to pay what it takes to either fix it or total it, take him to court. You also have the possibility of cutting your losses and time into the bike and parting it out. I would really only recommend that after you try to get him to pay something. GL.

Thanks for the reply, will be seeing a lawyer friend tomorrow, and taking the bike straight around to the dealer. Only just got the bike back from the shop after replacing the clutch basket, can't believe it

Damn man, I'm sorry that happened to you. At least you're doing ok though, right? Any wreck you walk away from is good in my book, though of course, I'd prefer to avoid them all together. I agree, get the guy to pay for the repairs, if he can afford it, if not, perhaps work something out? I'd hate to sue, it is a ****ing hassle and will eat away your wallet. Worst case you can part out, but really, that seems like a shame. I had a guy run a stop sign in front of me today, ended up bringing the back wheel off the ground trying to stop... I don't have insurance either, and this makes me think I really need to get on it. I suppose the extra $50 a month is worth the peace of mind and coverage if the bike gets totalled.

I'm fine, but my poor bike is stuffed. Insurance for me at the moment is way out of my budget, I just pray he comes up with the goods. I took it to the dealer today and told him to stop writing the quote at $5000.00, the bike is only worth that much. The next step is getting this guy to pay up, and with Christmas around the corner, I forsee this going on for a long time. I don;t really want to get rid of the bike, but I think it's time to upgrade. What do you guys reckon about CBR900F bikes? Or should i stick with the RRs, maybe go a F4?

This is a bad situation. I hope you all made a police report because if you all did'nt you better hope this guy is a responcible person, otherwise its your word against his. My son-inlaw totaled his bike going home the day he bought it from the dealer and it was'nt his fault but the other driver that ran a stop had no insurance and even with a police report my son-inlaw could'nt do a thing. The worst thing is here in texas for some dumb reason the honda dealer does'nt require you to get insurance to drive the bike out of there dealership. So my son-inlaw is paying for a bike that needs alot of repair and my daughter keeps saying I TOLD YOU SO. Dumb story but true. Johnny

I'm sorry to hear about the accident. Like said prior, it's a big plus to be able to walk away from it. Any pics of the damage? You'd probably be able to part it out some even if some of the parts are cracked up. I myself am looking for front end parts...headlight, running light (that little guy above the headlights, fairing stay, front upper plastic. Even is some of the parts are scarred up, they can be restored...sometimes. Send me a PM if you think that any of those parts are worth lookin at.
