How did you come to the conclusion that your bike is running rich?

220 miles to a tank doesn't sound that low. I think it is only a 4 gallon tank, 4.8 counting the reserve? Thats 45 mpg, not too bad for a high displacement sportbike. K&N pod wouldn't prob help, if it did would be completely coincidental. If it's really running rich, should prob actually check the jetting because a lot of people get to ambitious with jet kits and replace them with jets that are way too big. Also maybe sync the carbs, one carb can be pulling too much vacuum, but is held back by the other 3 so that single cylinder runs rich.

wow i guess im still used to my gs500 with 70+ mpg....lol. but ill take the tank off tonight and ask a friend for his mercury gauge. while im in there ill check the jetting. but if the both are fine then ill just have to try the pods only becuase im getting 4 anyway. then ill see if any noticable differance. ill post tommorrow after noon for an update

Check the color of the spark plugs. Too dark=rich.
