Default Running 17" rim in front

Hello everyone, new here. I was wondering if anyone is running the 17" wheel instead of the 16" up front. How does it affect the handling and is it safe. What tire size are you using too.

im running a 17 on my 94 900rr & i love it. ive got 2001 gsxr 600 forks with wheel slid into the stock honda triple clamps. fits like it was made for it. it has no speedo drive on the wheel though as the gsxr was electric running off the countershaft censor. its a streetfighter so im running a digital bicycle speedo anyways.

personally, I have not done that.
But my friends have
they claim that the 17incher has more centrifugal force to stabalize the wheel, which is true
this is (according to them) a good way to remedy the hypersensative characteristics of the early 900RR's
I heard guys complain that the early 900RR's floats in or out during turns

In my opinion, it just takes more balance to handle a 9RR with a 16 than other bikes
I don't have any problems with my bikes characteristics
but, I also learned to ride a unicycle in the off-season to gain balance
you might laugh & go ahead
but when you are done, you have to realize that much of the balance comes from you seat & feet
when I got back on my nine after the unicycle training in the winter, I was hitting turns harder & felt so much more in control
that extra balance along with a steering dampener is all I need

Thanks snake and tony for the replies. I have the 17" rim already and I heard it helps the bike from not washing out on you. I just a rec rider and sometimes I feel that it would wash out on me, so I though putting the 17" on would help.

Snake, what tire size and pressure are you running on the 17"

Tony, you're right, it does take some skills and balance to control the rr

thanks again for the insight.
