rear brake help
I have a 98 900rr and I'm having problems with the rear brake. I have to apply a huge ammount of pressure to get it to work. I bled the system, same thing, changed the MC, same thing, changed the Caliper, same thing, new pads, same thing. Someone suggested that I sand paper the rotor, ever heard of that? Any suggestions?
have you checked the pedal height?? if it is too low it will limit the amount of power you can apply to it. It is actually better to NOT be able to lock the rear tire easily..it should be able to lock, but not easy. If it is and you get in a emergency stop (and you are using your front brake right) there will be a massive weight transfer to the front and unload the rear. If the rear is unloaded it is waaaayyy easy to lock it up and slide, possible loosing control if the rear sways one way or another and you let go of the rear brake pressure.
It is possible that the rotor is glazed, and you can sand it....most professional roadracers have the rotors beadblasted to remove any old pad material that has imbedded itself on the rotor
