Default Question on stator covers

Hey guys, have a 95 900RR i bought from my brother, he laid it down at 40 and went threw the stator cover entirely. Long story short i bought a chrome one that was listed as 93-97 900RR, the mounting bolts are spot on but the center section where the stator bolts to it is like 1/4-3/8 to large, the cover wont even sit flat on the mounting surface with the stator out of it. Are there a few different ones floating around? I really wanted the chrome one but i can deal with the oem to get me on the road, I contacted the guy i bought it from to see if he had any idea or would return it so i can use the money to get the right one. Any ideas?

Is the stator cover on the left hand side or right? The right cover is interchangeable between 93-99 and the left is 93-95 and 96-99 according to lockhart phillips catalog, Hope it helps

its in the left side, talked to the dealer in town today and he said alot of guys on ebay screw the 900's and the 929's up since they mount the same to the case but the inside is different on em, he was gonna see if he could dig one up so we can compare, still havent heard back from the place i bought it from.

You could get later model stator. That way you could keep your chrome cover. I read on another forum that they will bolt right up to your older model crank. You might wanna double check to make sure first.

Thats what i'm going to do, need to run to honda after work so i'll order one while i'm there, of course the snowy weekend no one has one in stock The guy emailed me back saying he would check his paypal account and see what he could do, never heard back, my parts guy at the dealer has a 929 cover in stock so i'm going to take the chrome one in to see if it matches so i can find out what it fits and sell it.
