Default 98 CBR 900RR Speedometer probs

I just recently bought a 98 cbr 900rr of a guy and he told me that the speedo doesnt work and it might be a fuse. i got it to my house and checked all the fuses and they was all good 2 go but i have no idea what to do to make it work or whats causing it not to. anyone have a solution or know what the prob might be?

wouldn't be a fuse. You have two places to check. a.) the speed sensor, which fits over the front sprocket. some times they get worn out and the bolt spins inside the sensor. just pull it off and see if it's alligned or wore out. a quick fix would be to use tome epoxy and seran wrap to make a new mold.

if that doesnt work follow the speed sensor connector back to the wire harness connector to check for broken wires.

After doing some research it looks like the 98 speed sensor maybe different from the 96. I assumed they were the same. Check the link there are two covers, one with the speed sensor and one without. I'm guessing you have the one without. I'll check my manual and see if I can find anything out.
