Default Previous owner hacked exhaust

Hello everyone - I'm a new forum member and looking for a 900RR. Here is a bike I'm looking at tomorow - it's a 1994 with 50,000 kms, owner asking $3,000 canadian. The exaust has been modified on this bike - looks like he shortened the pipe and reinstalled the factory can. Wondering what you all think.

Welcome to the forum, I like the RR. But that exhaust looks a little strange, I would replace the exhaust if it were me either with stock and aftermarket can or full system. If you go with a full system you will need to rejet the carbs, With a bolt on it should be fine. The swing arm looks like a later model as well, Just FYI

I think he actually cut the can and the pipe. I don't think it looks too bad , it's kinda a popular mod now so IDK , you may actually like it.

You are correct zaq, He cut the pipe and shortened the can. It just looks like it sits at a weird angle, Pretty ingenious really

i would think that setup would make for a pretty hot right foot. it isn't really a deal breaker in my opinion, because you can always trade out the exhaust. the price seems kinda high, to me...even in Canadian money [ha ha] but if the rest of the bike is in decent shape and you like it over-all, go for it.

if it ain't broke, don't fix it -- but it might make things more challenging when you want to try something else. body and frame look like they're in great shape, but $3k does sound like he's a bit proud of it.

Default Rash...

I checked out the bike and the exhaust sound good. Engine runs perfect but the bike has rash all over it. I had to laugh...looks like it was dropped 10 times. Going to pass on this one and keep looking. Thanks for the comments. By the way, one thing I learned was that I want to raise the clip-ons by as much as possible (I'm old!). How much can these be raised and what are the aftermarket options.

if it seems mechanically sound but has been used as a hockey puck, it may not be as mechanically sound as you think, either. my bike was sort of the same way, but i paid about half what your prospect is expected to get. as for putting on taller bars, this might be an indication that a CBR RR is not the best choice for you.

The only way to raise the bars would be to get a set of helibars, I think they raise 1 1/2" and are back like 3/8" do a search for them for more info
