So as you can read in the title i am very much interested in a 1996 cbr900. i was just wondering if i can get some answers from some of you guys on here. the previus owner had lowered it and was wondering how hard would it be to lift it back up. looks like he went at the sping with a chissle and hammer.
also whats the Good bad and the ugly on this year model. what are your experiances with it. i am interested in turning it into a track bike. any thoughts on that?

The main problem you will have if it has not already been taken care of is the Regulator/Rectifier will die on you. If caught early that's all you'll need to replace (100 bucks) if left unattended the Stator and possible ECU will die as well. This was a common Honda problem in the mid to late 90's and affected the 600's, 900rr and VFR's.

If you can inspect the bike prior to paying for it, take the seat off and look for a connector with 3 yellow wires, if any or all are burned looking then that's the problem. Also you can check on the startor relay (has a 30amp fuse in it) next to the battery near the rear reservoir, look for the same thing.

The bike is great and you'll love it.

BTW if you get it and want it to go back to normal height I have a spare rear shock from a 97 that I'm trying to sell since I no longer own a 900rr.

I am 90% certain that I'll be picking up a 96 900rr within the next 2 weeks (out of state). Anyway, if you go back to stock height, I may be interested in whatever you take off that lowered the bike. I'm 5'6" on a good day. I can barely get my feet down on any bike.
