I just looked up the parts at Ron Ayers and here is what I found for the harness and stator - a lot less than what Honda seems to be quoting you.

Good lord you can do all that yourself for way under $800. I replaced my stator, reg/rec and rebuilt a section of my wiring harness all for about $250 and it took all of a couple hours of my time. Go to rick's motorsports electrics ( http://www.ricksmotorsportelectrics.com/ ) you can get a stator and reg with a warranty for the same price as ebay.

MT, I remember you saying you are in Hawaii, why don't you sponsor a flight for stynk to come down to your place to settle the problem? I bet it will be less the $875
