Default Oil Pan Leak...Common Problem?

Just wanted to see if the slight oil leak I am experiencing is a common problem. I have a 95' 900rr and I found last season that the oil pan and cases were sweating oil. This winter I re-gasketed everything and all the leaks have stopped...except for one. I replaced the oil pan gasket but at the front of the pan right under the oil filter the gasket is still sweating the smallest bit, about a drop a week. Its definetely not the filter or filter housing because thats clean, its got to be the gasket area. I don't want to over tighten the oil pan bolts and crack the gasket which will only make this worse, but I really hate having even the slightest bit of oil leaking anywhere. Has anyone else experienced this or are all your engine completely dry? If this is a known issue I really don't mind reaching under the bike once in a while and drying the area up but I am worried that maybe this problem will get worse once I start the bike, as I have not yetfired here up yet. If anyone has any advice or experience I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I always thought gaskets need a little temp to seal properly anyway. Once it warms up that first time, they're supposed to thermo-bond themselves to the metal, was my understanding. Haven't really heard of oil leaks in general on CBR's...what weight oil is it, maybe switch it out if the problem continues after starting the bike.

Thats a good call, the oil has basically been just sitting in there for a week or two since I changed it, without being started. Its 10-40 repsol standard oil because I used the repol syntetico (syn blend) last season and thought that maybe that was a little lite and was working its way through the gaskets. I think your right about the heat so I'll start it today or tomorrow and see what happens. I used a very lite film of Three Bond 1104 Liquid Gasket maker with all the gaskets the ensure that all was sealed so maybe that also needs some heat to work into the gaskets and surrounding metal.

I've never found any leaks on my '93, but cross my fingers.

The engine is sealed very well especially for it's age. i hope you can get your problem fixed asap

Good news my friends, the leak has stopped! YES! SpiritRR you were right on when you suggested the heat, it seems to have completely stopped in the last two days since I started riding her again. I wanted to be sure before I posted but I still see nothing today after 40 miles of riding. My apologies for the wasted thread, but I was worried I had something going one. Thanks for the advice and I really recommend the Three Bond as it seems to really seal things up. Have a good one
