Yes, its a common issue. A little clicking is ok. Often times, after its warmed up it will go away. If its continual & getting louder, then its prob time to replace it.
You can replace w/a new Honda automatic type or aftermarket manual type (as CF has linked above). Both require some attention to detail but can be done at home.

Yeah. I should have said you can get a new oem unit, but it will just fail again. The APE is great because its mechanical, and dead simple. Just check it every time you do an inspection on your bike (to ensure it hasn't loosened).
The APE manual type is a good alternative. If your mechanically inclined, it is a good option. It needs to be installed & set properly.
I just want to point out that the newest version of the factory automatic CCT unit has been revised & upgraded...& should be a more reliable unit.
If a bike is burning up the new factory units, its possible the condition isn't a bad/defective CCT but cam chain related.
However, as CF has pointed out, the manual type somewhat bridges that gap by allowing manual adjustment.
The good thing about hearing that clicking/ticking on the F4 is that - you can go a long time b/f having to replace it...that is, unless its so loud that you can't hear yourself think. ;-) A little clicking tho, isn't going to hurt anything. Just be sure that it IS the CCT & not valve ticking.
