first thanks for the suggestions !! But... I was riding today and the sh@t hit the fan!! I think second gear or something went out because now it sounds like a team of gremlins are inside with jack hammers going to town whether it's in neutral or in gear clutch in or out!! So.. with that being said someone please ballpark me in about how much a rebuild is gonna cost !! Thanks again!

 

Ouch. Never done a transmission rebuild on a unit motor so I can't help you there but I think the whole thing has to come apart. Separate transmission in the Harleys which is my area of expertise. CBR is a hobby for me, Harley is my bread and butter.

Good luck and hope the bike isn't toast. I know that as they get older and worth less, the cost of a rebuild becomes less worthwhile relative to buying another bike. I have a customer who junked an engine on a 1993 HD and the cost of a rebuild is going to be about the same as the bike is worth. We are exploring options.

Anyway, keep us updated. I'd like details at some point just to increase the knowledge store.
