Engine Intermittent Knock at Idle

Engine Intermittent Knock at Idle
Hi everyone. I have a 2002 CBR954, all parts are stock with the excepting for front turn signals. I notice recently that there is a knocking noise coming from my engine. It feels like it may be coming from clutch basket but haven't been able to localize it. It is different from normal clutch noise, being that it is a louder, deeper knock noise. It will knock once, and the idle would drop for the split second when this occurs and returned to normal. It isn't knocking....it isn't continuous, it will occur once and go away and then happen again, and reoccur that pattern. I'm a technician for a local motorcycle dealer, and i was posting in hopes that someone has ran into this problem before. Before i start investing money in diagnostic time in hopes of having a stupid extended warranty contract pick up the tab.....hopefully!! Thank you all

Mine does something like that. Its more like something in the transmission locks into place, and itll cause the idle to drop simultaneously. It usually occurs during warm up. lately i have noticed a more typical knock in first gear as i take off. like i dont have the power or torque i used to in the lower rpms.

RE: Engine Intermittent Knock at Idle
Already figured things out with it. Simply the clutch basket. The thing has about 60,000 miles on it and it is getting wear and tear on it. damper springs aren't doing so well anymore and it is able to create a knocking sound, which my stupid extended warranty won't cover since it isn't broken, nor a defect! But i know the cause is that the bike is running lean and has never been synced so by syncing it helped things a lot, but with a k&n air filter, no power commander, and cool dense air...it is creating a lean misfire at times, especially when it is super hot. So i'm not going to front the bill for this stupid part, so i'll wait until it gets worse and have warranty take care of it!
