I'm back with another build - 98 900rr
And now we wait. I have my stuff ordered for the engine.
- Piston rings
- Wrist Pins
- Wrist Pin Clips
- Rod Bearings
- Main Journal Bearings
So far, I'm into the bike for....
- $300 for the bike
- $300 for the engine
- $306 for the engine pieces
Still needed to purchase...
- $75 for Sprocket/chain set
- $40 for battery
- $40 for Ignition/lock set
- $26 for rear seat cover
- ~$300 for paint
In theory, that puts me in to the bike for ~$1400. We'll see if that pans out.

I'm too cheap to pay someone for anything. That cost is for materials.
Whew, I was starting to think I was bent over a barrel and shown all 50 states since I paid about $300 for just my tank being painted (I don't have any, I mean any, body paint skills).
Doing it yourself is better in my book if you can do it. Nothing wrong with that.
I wasn't too sure about the polished lip. There wasn't anything I could do to get it even close to the frame. Still, I gave it a shot.

I then added some paint. It's not exactly what I was after, but I really like how it turned out. The only issue is I get to change my planned paint scheme again. As Bob Ross used to say, "There are no mistakes; only happy accidents."
In the dark, it's black.

In the light, it's a deep purple.

Holy Jeebus it has been a while since I did anything to the bike. It has been nothing but hockey. Thankfully, one kid's season is finished and the other is closing.
I was able to put a few pieces on the bike and get it back on its own two wheels.

Now, I turn my attention to disassembling, cleaning, measuring and reassembling the engine. I'm starting with the head and this is my laboratory.

It doesn't look like much, because I worked most of the day on other projects. At any rate, the head is disassembled and mostly cleaned. I want to find something to work the rest of the carbon in the chamber and exhaust ports. The chamber is pretty clean, but I want it better. I was able to clean all of the valves up and they look good.
And now we wait for the next opportunity to work on it. I don't think I'll be riding by March. I tried.

The head is the hardest part. Looks like you're being surgical with it - which is great.
March is a long month, hell you got an extra day from February, keep up the good work. You're getting close
