Default How do you release the throttle cable from the carbs?

I have a 98 CBR 900RR and I am in the process of dropping the engine out to clean it up and paint it, but I cant for the life of me figure out how to unhook the throttle cables from the carb linkage.Whats the process of doing this?
Thanks,
Chris

first you have to take the carbs off the intake rubbers, then you can loosen the nuts locking the cables to the linkage, at this point you should be able to get the cable off, and get to the cable ends to release them from the throttle control

Holy crap, that sounds like alot of work.So I have to take the carbs off just in order to release the cables?Man I thought this would be a simple process to take the engine out and clean it up but the further I go into it the worse it gets.

Default wooohooo.............

Thanks Todd.I ended up taking the carbs off, which only took like 10-15 minutes. There would have been no way to get that bottom cable off without removing them.

Now heres another question. At the top of the head or block where the carbs mount there are 4 very small ports, 2 of them have allen bolts in there, 1 has a hose that goes back to the fuel tank and the 4th, furtherest to the right has a vaccum line coming from it but then has a bolt shoved into the hose.I know that isnt supposed to be there so what is?

Thanks,
Chris

those are vacuum ports and without looking at the drawings I am not sure exactly what will go there

Yeah I kinda figured they were vaccum ports, but that one with the bolt shoved in the rubber hose is messed up.Kinda like half a$$ed work.I am just going to cap it off with a vaccum cap so it looks better.
Thanks,
Chris
