Default Help with starting bike

Well guys someone tried to steal my bike back in june. It was at my apartment and about 2 in the morning someone thought they could steal it with a drill and bag of tools, thank god my neighbor heard him out there and called my roomate. I was on vacation when it happened. He ran out the door to get the guy and he bolted when he saw my roomate running up to him. Took off into the woods. Well my ignition is screwed the guy had no idea what he was doing because he butchered everything inside the key entry. I just have a big hole now. I have no way to move the bike and i need to get it to my garage for the winter so i can fix it, I cant afford to purchase the ignition right now with christmas coming and bills do. Plus i cant work on it at my apt. I pulled the fuse panel off on the right hand side and followed the lead from the bottom of the ignition to the block where the plug is. I pulled the plug and jumped the two red wires together, i got lights and power everywhere and when i try to start the bike all i get is turning of the engine. i have no spark. Can someone tell me what i need to do here to get this running. I feel so close but so far. Really kills me knowing that its been sitting since june and didnt get driven all summer. I wan to hear her run so bad. If anybody can help me i would really appreciate it. the bike is a 99 900rr. Thanks guys.

There are 2 bolts on the bottom of the ignition lock that hold it into the top of the triple tree. Should be a #40 Torx bit. Remove it from the bike. Once you have it free from the bike in your hand, look at the back of it and you will see 3 screws with security Torx heads. They look like regular Torx but have a pin in the middle. Buy a set of security bits and use your screw gun to remove those screws. Pull the assembly apart and now you can start the bike with a screwdriver or even your key. This worked on my 93 and my buddies 97. Your bike wouldnt start because you said you jumped 2 wires. Theres 3 that need to be wired together. You'll have a hot, ignition and one for everything else like lights and the like. I've got a new lock with keys. I'll send you a PM.
