Default Good Deal??

I have a chance to buy a 95 cbr 900rr for $1000. The owner said it has been wrecked, but the only thing missing is the forks and triple. I was wondering if this would be a good deal. I've had one bike before and i'm wanting to get another one now. I'mnew to working on bikes and i am hoping to get any good advice that i can. thanks.

it depends on if the motor is good. if so I would buy it but I work on bikes so to me its worth it. I would also have to decide how much I trusted this friend and how much I could believe him or her. One thing I always look for on used bikes exspecially whaen there is an issue with the front end is check around the neck where the front end goes through the frame. look for any abnormalties in the frame such as dents or cracks. thats usually the first thing that happens in a front end crash. if its messed up at all, even if you put it back together with a little dent in the frame, it could cause a negative rake issue and posibably make the bike handle crappy or be twitchy. hope this helps in your decision. if you have anymore ?'s email me @ johnhochii@yahoo.com

The guy lives a couple hours away, so i'm gonna have to find some time to make itup there and check out the bike. Thanks for the help, i was just wanting a second opinion on if it would even be worth it before i took the time to go look at the bike. If i have any more questions i'll be sure to ask.

Feel and look at the sides of the frame near the front, the frame spars. You want them to be wrinkle free and not see or feel any waves in the frame spars.

If you need a front wheel and forks i have a set i can sell you. The forks are not perfect but I can install new seals and fork oil in them for you for cheap. They won't leak oil either. The issue is the tripple trees and forks were wrecked on so they are mildly bent. I rode on them for almost two years and hands off bars at 60mph no wobbles, and no high speed wobbles either. Sell you the forks and tripples with new seals and oil for $70. Sell you a front 16" rim with used tire for $85. I also have a front axle that is straight and good $20.

$1000 is fair from the sounds of it, so long as it runs and the frame ain't bent. I can pick up a used 900RR here for $1,000 too and it too needs forks. that's a fair deal.
