Default Gearing my bike down.

I was thinking about gearing down my '98 900rr.Probably -1 in the front, + 1or 2 in the back. The thing I don't know how to do is get the speedometer to read correctly after gearing. Is there something mechanically I have to do or do I have to get something reprogrammed. Cause I think that the speedo is electronic. So any info would be greatly apprieciated.

not sure how you would fix it, but with a -1/+2 set up, you'll run 1.1 miles for every mile, and you will be about 10% off on the speedo. Don't know if that helps you out or not.
