Fuel range for 1998 CBR 900 RR?
I just bought a '98 CBR 900 RR. I live in Minnesota and can't really ride at the moment. But I was wondering how many miles I can expect to get on a full tank. I know that there are alot of variables for mpg, especially how hard you ride. I am just looking for a ball park figure. Also I am planning on some road trips this summer and was wondering how the riding position is on the body. This is not my first bike so I know it is not going to be like a cruiser. Any info or feedback is appreciated.
I get 190 miles on a full tank, including the reserve. That usually freeway and some sport riding. I comute on mine every day, and have done a couple of 400 miles rides up the cost with no problems. If anything its usually my clutch hand and knees that get sore from the twisties!
Where in MN are you? My riding buddies and me are in the north suburbs of Minneapolis. We meet up on Sundays and ride all day. If ever want to join up email or PM me. There are anywhere from 3 - 8 of us depending on the night before!![8D]
Wow, seems to be a lot of us from here. I'm in the north burbs too. No longer with the 900RR but riding none the less.
I usually got around 160 miles before I hit reserve, but that was usually interstate riding on road trips and some of them were less than slow paced. 160before reserve should be about average with another probably 30 on reserve or so. I have never ran mine out so I couldnt tell you for sure.
Lets all get together for a ride come melting snow. I'm up in Fridley off of East River Road just south of 610.

I don't ride with Suzukis [:'(]
I couldn't restrain myself from saying that!
Seriously though, sounds like fun. Chris (thread starter) and I already exchanged emails and we'll probably meet up, come good weather. How many riders do you usually buzz around with? I'm sensing a big "hello springtime" ride coming up. [sm=crossbonesgif.gif]

LOL.......I can understand why. I wouldnt want my Honda looking bad either. LOL. Usually not too many. It seems the more people you throw into a group, the more showing off and douche bag riding happens. Usually 2-3 total. My GF is still a noob so large groups are not really a high priority until she gets some more miles under her belt. So her, and at least a few others from up here, sometimes all together, sometimes just me and one other. I'm sure you're well aware of MNSBR. There are TONS of group rides on there, ranging from 2 people to 100+ people. Not my cup of tea with that many people, but others dig on it. I'd be happy to meet up when it gets warm out. We rolled last Wed on 610 over to Champlin and back just for a few miles. Sure did feel good. Lets do a CBR Forum meeting when it gets warm, sounds like fun. I didnt notice...what do you ride?
'93 900rr.
I usually ride with anywhere from 2 - 8 others. Chris said he's only got cruiser friends right now so we can set it up for a smaller club. What does your lady ride? Mine is strictly a passenger right now... she's unsure if she wants to pilot!
Anyway, my bike should be back together by the end of March so I'll be ready by April!

Yeah....we could roll a small group and see what it's like first. She rides an 01 R6 that was lowered. Probably a bit much for a first bike, but she's pretty good with it, just not the most confident yet. It'll come with time. Tell your girl to ride. She'll love it. Mine still likes to ride on the back on occassion, but riding her own is more enjoyable for sure. If she's short, I would suggest lowering it. She dropped hers once on each side because of unsure footing, but since it was lowered, no such run in's. We can certainly head to Sconny some Sunday. I'm just waiting for new tires and swapping my brake pads and I'm off and running, surely well before April.
Small group it is! I got just the friend to bring... he's a really good group rider. Some of the guys I ride with are just too nutso for group riding.[:'(]
I'll pm or email you when my bike is back together. I have a ton of work and bikebandit.com is holding me up from getting the rolling chassis back together. Just waiting on the dust seals for my swingarm. Until then I'm slowly running out of things to do and falling behind. I'm still shooting for the end of March!!
