front fork swap
I was just curious whats the difference between the 96 fork assy and wheel, compared to a 99 cbr front assy. I tried to cross reference the part numbers for the triple tree, but they dont match up between the twoyear models.
The 98/99 front assembly is a a few mm wider than its predecessor. You just can't swap the forks. You need to change the triple tree and wheel c/w with the rotor too. Oh yes I changed the lock as well.
So the guy I bought my bike from, gave me an extra set of wheels from a '99. My bikes a '96, sofar what I am getting from this thread isI won't be able to put these directly on. The front wheel has the better rotor's. He said it was an upgrade to put that wheel on, and calipers would work. Have I been misinformed??
Yes sir you had been misinformed! Unless someone else can come with other facts, this is based on my experience. The 900 you see in my siggy is a 97 model with a 99 complete front assembly. The proof can be seen with different color of the rims; I want my bike so badly that I refused to paint the 99 front wheel! [&:]
