I have a 2000 f4 with bent forks. I've been told i can use forks off any f4i,929,or 954 model between (1999-2004) Is this true and if so will i need a new tree or extensive modification to make them work?

You can use any F4 ('99-00) or F4i forks ('01-06). The F4i forks are externally the same as F4 forks...internally, there are minor differences. So, you can do a direct swap for F4i forks. Simply pull your old fork tubes & replace w/ F4i tubes, done. <---That is the easiest & cheapest solution. F4i forks are easily & readily available on ebay, etc, for inexpensive cost.

While you can adapt other model forks, you'll have to make modifications & your handling will change. The direct swap w/ F4i forks is the best way to go.
