Default Chain rating questions. . .

Ok, being a completely newbie when it comes to maintaining my own bike, I'm wondering if someone could explain the difference between a 520, 525 and 530 chain? I recently picked up an RK 520 quick accel kit and don't like the fact tha the rear sprocket is aluminum, but oh well. . .I'll replace it again when the time comes.

For that matter, I've noticed that may manufacutures put a code just after the chain number. For instance, the one I'm about to put on is "SHO" and the stock 525 chain is "ZRP" - what does that mean?

Damn fine question. I dont have an answer for that, but I can tell you the diff between 525/520 is the thickness of the chain. You'll be fine with a 520 and aluminum sprocket. I have the same thing and have several track days, touring, general riding and wheelies on it and it's still brand new. Just maintain that **** and it'll be fine.

The dif. between the numbers is the thickness and the pitch between the teeth. What you have is fine
