Cbr 900 1995/6 Speed sensor test
Hi all I still have this problem with my speedometer not working
The speed sensor has three wires
black 12v dc
red this is linked to the Speedo ( I am guessing this takes the current that the speed sensor generates )
green is the earth .
I have the service manuals and I have the information from the wiring diagram
I have tested the sensor and I have 12v at black but when I turn the sensor there still isn't any current produced.
does anyone have any knowledge of this
my odometer or trip doesn't work either but I guess this will only register when the Speedo needle is functioning
please any help is appreciated as I've been quoted £160 + vat for a new sensor and I've already tried a second hand one

I think you should have 12v between red and black. May be wrong here but red/black is your power, remaining cable is your signal output.
If you have 12v, hook a meter up (12v DC mode) between your remaining cable and neg lead.
As you spin sensor, you should see a pulse output and back to 12v.
All of the above could be totally wrong, but it’s the only way my mind can make it work.
Worth a try.

yes mate . Your on the right track from what I think after reading the electrical diagram . When I turn the sensor by hand slowly or even spin it with a drill it doesn't pulse a current through to the cluster / Speedo
so I think the sensor is f.....kd . I just wanted someone else to agree to be honest as the new one from a supplier is 160 plus the vat . That is David silver Honda part .. do you know of any other supplier ??
regards ARCHY
