carb swapping
man, this 93 900rr I got recentley got came with flat side carbs, which was cool at first, but its just not as streetable as I like.Dont get me wrong, these carbs really woke the bike up,but if your not careful they will foul a set of plugs in a second. Anyway, my buddy I bought the bike from gave me the stock carbs with a jet kit installed,I am putting them on this weekend but I have no idea how to freakin sync carbs! is there anyone who might be able to explain this process or throw me a link to a step by step, or whatever? I may be intrested in selling the flats after I make sure the stockers are all good, they are no more than 6 months old and my boy said he paid $1200 for them NIB....make me an offer if you would like them (I didnt even pay $1200.00 for the whole damn CLEAN bike) lol

RE: carb swapping
you're gonna need three tools: a mercury sync (motion pro), a fueli.v(motion pro), and avery long philipshead screwdriver.the sync comeswith 4vacuum adapter(threaded brass tubes). first, remove the seat, fuel tank. next, remove thevaccum plugs(allen headscrews)from eachcarb. replace each plug witha brassadapter(it's easy to overtighten and break the rubber o rings on the adapters, so tighten by hand and then with a wrench 1/4 turn only.) (note: one cylinderwill already have a tube,in this case just remove the capfrom thetube).next, attach thesync hoses to the adapter tubesand the fuel i.v to the fuel hose.then, check to make sure all the clamps for the rubber intake hoses and airbox are tight, any vaccum leaks will cause a false reading. finally, start the bike and let it idle till it reaches temp. (note:the cylinders are in orderfrom left to right.far leftbeing number 1, and far right being 4.) adjust theidle set screws so that each cylinder is withing 1/2 inch, or as close asyou can getof the number 3 cylinder.(note: after each adjustment slightly blip the throttle to take up any slack in the line, this givesyou a more accurate reading)(warning: some throttle is fine, but do not give the bike full throttle while the sync is attached, as the mercury could be sucked intothe carbs). finally, remove the brass adapters and reinstall the vacuum plugs, the tank and seat.voila, more power and better gas mileage.
