I have a 98 cbr 900rr and i have been fighting an elicrical problem........after i ride for like 10 minutes and catch a redlight my bike dies out i thought it was the battery so i bought a new one.......as long as i don't let the rpm's drop it does ok......i started digging aroung and found a discolored wire on the reg/rec green.....pretty sure it's a ground.....reg/rec gets pretty hot any guess would be very helpful thanx

 

here is a link that will help you out with some pictures. Check the wires comming from the stator there are 3 yellow one. Mke sure thay are not burnt. Then follow the steps in te link.

I had the same problem on my 93, it ran fine when I got to a stop light it would start to stall out on me. Got to the point where it would just die, didn't have the same power ect... Replaced my regulator/rectifier and have not had a single problem since!
