Brake light question?

Brake light question?
Hey guys, I have a 96 900RR, just recently, last couple of days, I have been having problems with my tail light concerning the front brake lever. I went out last night to take a ride and I noticed my tail light was brighter than usual. Apparently the switch for my front brake lever is malfunctioning. Even with out the lever pulled the brake light is on. I pulled the lever and pushed the little switch and the light went off. Released the lever and the light stayed off until I pulled the lever again. then wouldn't go off again. I put a zip tie around the part of the lever that touches the switch and the light went off.
The light will not come on now when I pull the brake lever, but if I do squeeze and release the lever, eventually the light works. I know something is going on with the whole front brake lever, system, because the light works perfectly with the rear brake. Just something going on up front on the clip on. Any one have this happen before.
BTW, brakes work fine, just and issue with the tail light working.

+1 to all the above. If you're handy, break it down, hose it with contact cleaner first,
and then a di-electric spray lube, re-assemble and try it out. If that doesn't work, go to
the plan for the less-mechanically inclined, buy a new switch and replace it completely.
The cost is pretty minimal, as noted by cbrjohn. ;-)
