brake light question
hey fellas, alright I just picked up my first CBR several months ago, and I love it! But I have noticed that when I pull the front brake lever, the brake light lights up, but not as bright as when I apply the rear brake; is it supposed to be like that? I also noticed that if I apply just a little bit of front brake, the light is dim, then the brightness increases the more I apply front brakes; is that a CBR thing or is something not right?

I've never heard of this problem before, so Im only guessing. But, the switch is either on or off. If the switch is sticking internally, it could be not letting the full amount of voltage across the swtich so you get a dimmer light. If you've ever had a bad ground, you know that bad grounded lights are always dimmer. Can you see the switch to see if the plunger is coming out quickly? Maybe remove the lever and push it by hand to see if the switch feels sticky.
Maybe the futher the plunger moves outward, the connection inside the switch is made better, therefore letting more voltage across?

I'd grab a new pressure switch from Brad at SuperBike Supply and while your at it, a new set of brake lines (may as well if you are installing a banjo bolt pressure switch!)....that is, assuming you don't already have aftermarket lines...in which case, you already have an aftermarket pressure switch that could be bad..... Never seen it happen, but I suppose all mechanical things are bound to fail...
