Default 99 900rr

Boughtmy 900rr in july, and I have lots of questions as I am new to sportbikes. Just new to sportbikes, so I have enough expirence, but am still taking things slow.
Ido find myself wondering if i could take a newer r6 or simular bike. I am not in an area where there are a lot of sportbikes, soi might not ever find out. What have you guys found? I do have a friend with a 2007 ninja 650r which I can walk all over, but that is just a 2 cylinder beginers bike. Sounds like a 4 stroke 4 wheeler. which I point out every chance I can. Also the previous owner of my bike dumped it around a corner at 15mph or slower. there is some minor scratches, as you can see in the attached picture. what is the best avenue for repair? I don't want to take it to a body shop, and was wondering if there is method of touching the paint up I can do, and not make it look cheesy? If i have to take it to the shopI will. I am very happy to own a 900rr. I was in a dealership with it and a guy gave me his card and told me if i ever want to sell it to call him as he would love to have a 900rr.he even said something about the colors, as if you don't see this particular make too often. Is thattrue? It made me feel really good about my purchase, I don't think you get that with a ninja or gsxr. I just love to ramble on about the bike as I am so happy with it. Lastly is there anything esle I should now about 900rr's or sportbikes in general. remember i am noob when it comes to this stuff. I know it has a super trap exhaust. Is there any other performace upgrads I should consider? Sorry for the long post.

I would say look on ebay for some replacement fairings, if you can find matching colors. That might end up being a bit of a waiting game, and I think your only other really viable option is taking it to the shop. Can't say about the colors - though they are nice. Given that a 99 is not all *too* old (I have a 93) I would imagine you shouldn't have any problems with a 650 - though I really can't be sure. My '93 beats out my friends (04?) ninja zx6r pretty soundly. As far as upgrades, it is all personal preference. I am looking at the 520 conversion kit and -1 +2 on the sprockets. Bleeds a bit off the top speed, but gives you a substantial gain in acceleration. And really, how often do you get up to the top speed? Exhaust I don't know a ton about, but mine came with a full akrapovic exhaust system and I love the damn thing. Not sure if it's jetted, and I am not really sure how to find out, but I would recommend that if you do change the exhaust, you have the carbs jetted for it. Other than that, have fun with the bike - they are amazingly fun, to say the least.

Just like with everything, take your time. Maybe even buy a crappy fairing from ebay and practice painting and clearcoating it.

Stay safe and keep that 900 clean, she'll love you back...

I had the exact bike with a full V&H SS2R (carbon fiber) K&N, jet kit, 520 -1 up front and it will MOP any current 600 you can buy. It may only be up on peak power a little but it makes TONS more torque.
If you learn to ride knocking off 600's wont be a problem.
