Hello I’m new to this forum I have a 98 car 900rr and I recently took it to a mechanic to see why I would not stay running. He replaced vaccine lines and battary also stator and rectifier ! He also completely wen through the bike checking grounds and he replaced a charging fuse ?? Near the battary below is a picture! Any way I spent 700 bucks and the bike is still not running I have 2 additional stators and 3 regulators in my possession! I refuse to take it elsewhere and waist my money... he told me there is power coming from the stator but no power coming out from the regulator. He put the regulator in a cb600f and it charges it no issues back in mine and no power coming out ??? So I’m thing of re wiring the cables pictured below! However I would like to double check his statement With a volt meter ! Anyone know how to do this and what readings I should be getting ! Thank you also if a thread has already been made on this if it could be tagged thank you !! Battary was replaced also He said there is power coming from stator but not coming out of the regulator !
If memory serves the 1998 900RR has a classic three phase alternator with a magnetic exciter - so you should get voltage between each pair of yellow wires when the bike is running even with the regulator disconnected.
The simplest check of your charging system is to monitor battery voltage - if it goes up to 14.6v at >3000rpm, then everything's working fine.
Check to see if you have any continuity between your 3 yellows from the rectifier once you’ve plugged it up. Easiest place is the connection under the seat.
Best of luck mate.
