Maybe someone can help me with this problem with my 1994 CBR900RR. Started the bike yesterday, drove about 20 miles and stopped to eat. When I got back on the bike and turned the key, everything went dead. I have a volt meter on my bike from VR problems a year ago, and with the key off shows 12.4 volts. When I turn the key on, the power from the volt meter goes out completely. No lights, no start, no nothing. Checked all fuses and main fuse. All ok. Push started bike and it started right up. I figured it was just the battery had gone bad. After idling for a minute, the tach starting jumping from 0 to 1, and the guages started to flicker. The voltmeter said 13.8 so I know the VR was working. When i revved the engine it sputtered out. Had to get it towed home because it was unridable in that condition. Any ideas if it could be the ignition switch or something similar to that? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what kind of regulator did you put on your bike the stock one could have went out again. check the 3 wires coming from your stator one might be burned. also do a load test on the battery i am willing to bet its the battery with a dead cell. i had one come through doing the same thing. any more questions feel free to call me 281-859-4450 joe

 

Thanks for the info Joe. It turned out it was just the battery with a bad cell, after I had already bought another Rectifier on ebay. Oh well, at least I have a spare now. Thanks again.
