Default 93 frame, 98 motor????

I've bought a 93 900rr with a snapped crank. Spun two jurnals and the valves were not hit but are burnt. After checking over my rebuild options I've decied to op for a whole used engine.
I've had the hardest time finding any 93- 94 motors for a direct bolt in, but I've seen a number ebay bikes 93 frames with 98 motors. I've found a good 98 motor with harness for a heffty chunk of change. I've also had a few people tell me that it is possable to do. I've done my parts home work and am aware that the casing part numbers are different. I have many years of automotive modifacations, (not body kits or tail lights), but I've aways found resources for engine swaps. If anyone knows if this is possable or if it requires frame modifacation, (cutting, streching, or any other nasty geometry), please let me know.
Thanks

i've got a 95 frame with a 99 motor. I bought it like this. it looks like all the mounts lined up except the upper right side mount was cut off the engine so i'm not really sure if it lined up or not.

I just put a 99 motor in a 97 frame and it bolts up perfect everywhere. I also put the 97 motor in the 99 frame. The wiring is the most complicated thing. I have both complete bikes so it was an easy swap. I thing all the frames are the same. The biggest changes are the triple clamps and swing arm.

I too swaped engines. I put a 99 in a 97. One thing that was different was the temp sending unit. Had to put the 97 in the 99 because the97 bikes dash was analog and the 99 bike was dig.
