93-95 vs 96-99 Exhaust?
Does anyone know the difference between the 93-95 and the 96-99 exhaust muffler mount? Looking at putting a flange-on can on my '93 and there are a larger amount of cans available for the 96-99 model. Is the mounting flange the same? Is the orientation different? Is the mount to the rear peg brkt different? I talked with a tech a Yoshumira and all he could tell me was that the two models did not cross reference. I don't mind doing some minor modifiation, but I don't have the time to completely custom fabricate an adaptor. Any help would be appreciated.

Well thanks to the nice people over at Jardine that have downloadable pdf drawings on their website, I finally found the information on the muffler difference between the the above stated years. The difference is in the flange orientation. The 93-95 have the upper two flange bolts pretty much symmetrical about the vertical with the third lower bolt at 6 oclock. The 96-99 flange has the bolt pattern rotated counter clockwise approximately 20 degrees looking at the front of the muffler.
Here you go. Just click the download drawing at each of the links and you'll see the pdfs.

1993 to 1999 has the same 3 bolt pattern. You can bolt right on, if you find the
Bolt too long and unable to mount flush, just get short bolts. The only difference is the exhaust hanger mount position. If hanger is a separate piece, you can modify to fit but if hanger mount is fixed/welded onto exhaust (like the oem pipe) they will not fit because of the different angle of hole position.

I know this because I had 3 different exhaust for my 94 900rr. I purchase V&H and they send me a 98 by mistake. I bolt exhaust right on in 3 minutes but the hanger mount position is not same. It is like 20 degree counter clockwise. So since the exhaust hanger is an independent piece, I bent the flange to fit. Once the exhaust is bolt onto bike, the tip of exhaust is pointing outward..little bit. But I kinda like the look though....been riding for 2 years now with no problem what so ever. If you can purchase
An exact year, great. But 93-95 is becoming very scares. 96-99 will fit but need to modify hanger.

Here is a sample of a 96-99 Vance & Hines exhaust bolt on to a 94. I had to use a Yoshimura hanger, bent the flange a little and it fits.
