Default 93 900 problems

I bought a 93 900 rr that was wrecked. All that was wrong with it wasfront plastic and a couple of wires. The bike runs decent when cruising but when your on it pretty hard it seems sluggish. It also backfires a little when you let off and when going down my road out to the highway at low speed it sounds like its missing. PLEASE HELP GIVE ME SOME IDEAS as I have tried Dyna Ign and just about everything under the sun.

change the plugs because they probably are fouled or have oil on them from the wreck

depending on how long it sat up you may have to change the fuel filter also, also check to bike to make sure that it does not have any exhaust leaks. If all of this fails get the bike rejetted

I just pulled the carbs off and found a small piece of foam stuck underneath the diafram(dont know how to spell it) next to the needle on #2. could this be some of the problem? plugs are new and has d+d pipe and header no leaks
