Default 1996 CBR900RR 530 chain

I have a 1996 CBR900RR, and my chain is ready for replacement. Stock specs call out a 525 chain. I have a Daido 530 o-ring chain still new in the box that set me back $145.00. The intent was to use the 530 on one of my CB750's. That project has been put on hold. What is the downside to replacing sprockets and chain for the CBR with the 530 in lieu of the 525? I know the prior year used this chain. Is this mearly a weight saving aspect more than performance? If so this bike is used as mearly a street machine that is never stunted or taken to the track.

Default RE: 1996 CBR900RR 530 chain

My 94 has a 530 chainso when I installed a wheel and sprocket from a cbr929rr from a 2001 I thought I would have a problem but the only year the 525 came out was the 95 tru 97 all the rest come with the 530 so it allready had the 530. They claim the 525 is lighter. Johnny
