900rr conversion to F3 front rim
#11
If you still have the original 16" rim, I have an F3 17x3.5" rim in very good condition I want to trade for a CBR900RR 16" rim in similar condition. The rim was installed on a 96 CBR900RR.
I recently purchased this rim "from a 1996 CBR900RR" to use on a dragbike project. I received The rim arrived, but has F3 written on it, and is a 17 x 3.5" rim.
I am looking to do a straight up swap. Also, I would prefer to trade the bare rims without brake rotors - much less chance of a rotor getting bent in shipping.
To make sure this fits your applicaiton, the brake rotor spacing on this is 130mm and the rotors are 296mm diameter. Also, this rim is not set up for a speedomter drive. The wheel bearings appear and feel to be in great condition - no clicks, no sticky points, nice and smooth.
Thanks,
Chris

I've heard a VFR 750 rim will swap without any spacers. That's what I read somewhere but I've never done it myself.
From what I hear, the 16" front is awesome for the handling...the bike was just so ahead of it's time that people were not used to a bike that handled as well as the 900rr so they used words like "flighty" and "twitchy" to describe the handling from the 16" front tire.
Nowadays, that type of handling is expected on sportbikes, even demanded!
