Kill Switch/Valve Adjustment
I know these 2 items don't seem to go together, but follow my story.
I bought my 94 about a year and a half ago with 22,000 miles on it. The bike ran perfect until this past August. It all of the sudden had fits where it wouldn't start after much cranking; sometimes I even had to push start it. Other times it would fire right up. I changed the spark plugs and it was OK for about a week and started doing it again. It got to where the damn thing wouldn't start at all so I just parked it and rode another bike. Actually, joining this Forum last week got me in the mood to get her going again (that and 50+ weather in Jaunary!). So I took her Thursday to the local Honda guru in Louisville. He calls me Friday afternoon and says, "come get the bike, it runs perfect." Ends up that the kill switch had gotten water in it at some time and was only making contact when it felt like it. Of course I feel like a complete rube that I couldn't figure that out myself, but as you know sometimes you only look at the big things and miss the obvious.
Which brings me to the valve adjust. Since it was in his shop, I figured that the previous owner had probably never had the valves checked so I told him to go ahead and do it. I'm happy to report that on a 24,000 mile CBR every valve was still within factory clearance. But it's nice to know that she will go another 25,000 miles with no issues. Ah, it's great to be a Honda owner!
