Default 1999 CBR900RR - Velez SoFlo

Not exactly the place for an intro topic, but this will develop into a build thread. So not so recently i bought a cbr900rr (2 months ago) and i signed up on this forum under 'Velez' but have not been able to post, ask for help, etc. Only research. So i haven't gotten far with my new purchase, actually went backwards... But today i thought to log in using facebook and here i am finally posting.

But I have no experience with bikes. I have gotten the idea of what im going to do. But first things first i need to rip the bike apart and put it back together, seeing whats not good and may need replacing. I have downloaded the oem manuals and purchased the Clymer manual for 95-99.

So far from my research I've gained little idea and knowledge, but im a hand's on guy so once i start using wrenches I'm sure I'll get a better idea of things. And I'm very happy to be here. From my experience with forums, none have been as welcoming and respectful as I've seen from this forum and as I've read from the rules. So im sure ill have it easy with all the good people here.

Suggestions on who and where to go towards when it comes to manufacture of aftermarket parts as well as oem, etc are welcomed!

Bike was running when i first got it. But the guy i bought it off of said it would only run in RESERVE. Also the stator probably needed changing, which im sure of since I tested the battery and tried a new battery. I'm sure I flooded the engine and shortly after blown something that causes the bike to have absolutely no power. I checked the main fuse and it was good, so i have to do my work. Just need to find the time to get to it.

But an idea of what I plan on doing. Painting the fairings the color of my car, 38P Liquid Silver Metallic. I love the color, hides dirt well. Also powder coating the frame and a few other things black. And powdercoating other little things like stand, wheels, levers, a turquoise blue.

Bike was plasti dipped black when i bought it

Welcome to the forum - it sounds like the vacuum line from the carbs-to-the-petcock is not hooked up (and hence it'll only flow fuel in prime mode).
