Is it possible to swap from the 16" to the 17" front rim on my 96CBR900RR? A "kit" available to do it or somesuch?
What I am getting at, is it as easy as simply buying a new rim, and correct profile tire, or does it involve swapping forks, fender, etc?
With decent 16" tires going away, it seems like a pretty good idea for down the road.

The search function is your friend man.....................This has been coverd SEVERAL times.
Short answer.........an actual F3 rim and basically everything except the rotors from the F3. Use the 900RR rotors and calipers and forks. I have never done the swap.....some say it's a bolt on.......some have to machine spacers...........I measuered my 99 900RR and an F3 sitting next to each other and it looked like I needed the F3 Rim, axels, spacers, and the 900RR rotors and it would bolt directly on.......but I never actually did it so I cant say for 100% certainty.

Idid the swap and yes its a straight up bolt on thing. Just go on e-bay or where ever you wana go and buy an F-3 rim thats all you need. You use your rotors, spacers, andthats it. BUT BE CAREFULL! when i was sold my first supposed F-3 rim it wasnt an F-3 it was a VFR rim and they dont fit but they look the same. The rim is to wide and the rotors wont clear the fork tubes. One more thing dont put a tire on it jst put your rotors on then mount it. Its the best way to see if the person sold you a bent rim or not. That was the second rim i bought HA friggin HA. Hope that helps.

To add to what he said...........be very careful of buying them off of E-Bay because a lot of people try selling F2 rims as F3 rims because the F3 rims bring more money.....as everyone is trying to do this swap. Just use caution or go to a junk yard and try to find one that you can verify what it came off of.

I HAVE A BRAND NEW F3 WHEEL! IF YOU WANT IT, IT IS $300! POWDER COATED BLACK! AND YES TO THE ABOVE MENTION! THE F3 WHEEL HAS THE SAME BOLT PATTERN AS THE CBR 900RR 16in. FRONT WHEEL DOES! ALL 93-99 ARE THE SAME WHEEL! THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS THE 98/99 CBR 900RR HAS A 310mm FRONT ROTORS AS TO THE 93-97 HAVE A 290mm FRONT ROTORS! USE THE EXACT FRONT AXLE AND BEARINGS FROM YOUR 16in. FRONT WHEEL AND IT GOES RIGHT ON LIKE BUTTER!!! BY THE WAY, THE F2 WHEEL HAS A STAR SHAPE PATTERN THAT MOVES OUT FROM THE CENTER HUB!
