Exclamation Q for those who have done the f4i front end swap

I took my toy out for a spin the other day, rode like a champ, lots of good feedback, but afterwards, man the bike was hot.

I know i mounted the rectifier to the frame so that would be a heat sync, but even by the the top of the frame by the neck of the bike felt very warm, hot even to the touch.

I started to get concerned that either the auxiliary radiator fan wasn't working (not that it would cool the bike down that much) or that i had a problem with engine cooling.

Since i had the stock f3 fairing on the bike before hand, i never really though about the heat dissipation from the engine. However since i have now exposed the frame for the F4i conversion, I would like some feedback on whether or not this is normal or just bad news. A larger concern is that i have since ran the wiring harness up through the bike on the right under the gas tank... is the heat going to cause problems with that harness melting?

I did take the bike around the block, giving it a good boot... i dont have a sensor for the coolant temp, i never did the 900rr upgrade, i may do the inline temp sensor since im concerned that the bike isnt running cool enough.

Thoughts? should i be concerned?
Thanks,
n

i havent done the fairing swap, but ive done the gauges. honestly, i would just get the 900rr sensor...its not hard to do, and you dont have to modify anything. all you need is a decent 1/4in rachet set. (extentsion, swivel, and deep socket.)

I've been riding around daily for about 3 weeks now, i noticed on the first ride you feel way more heat on your inner thighs, probably since now the fairings dont meet up with the tail but stop at the frame now.

ive had no issue but it feels hotter sometimes than it did with the f3 fairings

Nothing to worry about. Mine is the same way. I'm thinking that since there is nothing covering the frame that the heat is just dissipating through the frame. Harness should be fine. I've had mine rerouted for about a year now and its just as good ad the day I moved it

Phew!

That makes me feel better! I will take a look at doing the 900rr temp sensor, and see whats required.

Thanks for getting back to me!
