It depends on what you are going to race on. if its a twisty mountain road then you are going to get a good run for your money, but if your bike is setup correctly and gives as much as mine (Jetted and piped as well), then you would demolish him on the straighter parts. The main thing that separates our 900RR's from the other bikes that brag about their horsepower numbers, is our torque. While the ZX6R would have to rev its engine up to 12000rpm to see it, our power is availible on tap from 5000rpm to 8000rpm with a rock solid pull and then tapers off slowly to the 11000 mark. My buddy has a Micron slipon on his Yamaha R6 as well, and it doesnt do anything to the power of the bike, other than make it sound more meaty.

On a twisty road and with your steering damper on a low setting (if you have one) you can stay with him, but you will struggle to pass him. Once the road opens up roll on your throttle and wave "bye-bye".

With all that said, jump on the bikes and see for yourselves. Tell us how the 900RR spanked the Kawi...

Well said Duke.
I would say much will depend on the riders competency. After all he is your cousin; you can race him anytime if you are not satisfied with the result.

Lets not forget weight. If you are overweight......and by that I mean 250 +......and he is rolling in the 150-180 range you will be in for a shock against a 600.
If you weigh even close to the same his 600 will not stand a snowballs chance in hell if you simply do a 2nd gear roll on to 120 or so. From a dig or with a tight twisty road......too much depends on the rider and a good rider on a 250 Ninja would whip a 600 with a poor rider if it was tight enough.

Yes, your 900 out powers the 600 by a few HP but makes OODLES more torque.

Enjoy.......

well we sence we are in iowa there wasent many twistys. so we decided to go with a 1/4 mile. which is what i wanted. ok the first race whe went at a 20 mph roll. well he missed end and pops the kawi in nuetral. i could tell when i can here it hit the rev limiter. so we tried it again and he stay with me till i hit second and around 4k and i was gone. so he wanted to try dead stop. well he beat me off the start (only becuase i didnt dump the clutch). he stayed about 1 langth till i hit third and i started pulling and screeming. beat him by about 3-4ish lengths. i shut him up and my 900 and me are very happy
