WTF a Flapper?!?!
I have been searching through the forums, just meandering through, and I have seen a lot under the 1000RR section about flappe mods. Not really sure what it is, (if someone could inform me) and if it can only be done to 1000's. Thanks
refers to a sylenoid controled valve in the exhaust mid pipe if my memory serves me corectly. the mod makes it stay open full all the time or removes it. not sure which. 600rr's do not have this valve. so no worries mate
Hope you don't mind me correcting you, but it's a flap designed in the ram air ducts of the liter bikes. Honda "supposedly" had to quite down the idle noise to pass sound level testing when producing the bikes so they added a flap that cuts down on the noise made by air getting sucked in at idle. Once you hit the throttle, it opens up, but there is a slight delay of course. And from eliminating this delay, there is a claimed 1 or 2 HP gain.
Here's a better write up about it. Actually, it's a how to do it, but we do not have flaps to worry about on the 600s

AAAhhh... See I didnt know and Everyone was talking about them in the 1000 forums, but I never saw them in the 600's, and I guess its because we dont have them! That's the only reason I asked. Thanks guys
hmm, i couldn't have been any more wrong
, but i know they have a valve in the exhaust mid pipe too. i would imagine you could get rid of it some how, but that would screw up engine back presure.
