Went to the dragstrip
Ok so on Saturday I went to the dragstrip with my '06 600rr, this is my first time ever racing at the drag strip, even when I had decently fast cars. so anyways my best time was 11.468 in the 1/4 mile, my bike is all stock. is this a decent time? also what is the best rpm to launch at? and any tips at all for drag racing would be nice, as I will go back soon. I was racing my friends '06 R6 and he has a 520 kit, he always beat me to the finish because he always had better reaction times, but for whatever reason I always ran faster, and he would be ahead of me and I would pull on him, why would I be pulling on him if he has a 520 kit?

RE: Went to the dragstrip
the rider makes all the difference. and it was the same between me and my buddy on his r6 i would walk off and leave him the first 1/8 th then he'd catch me. the r6 is all top end. and depending on if the guy just has a 520 conversion kit or does he have a QA kit. most of the 520 QA's are 1 tooth down in the front. if its just a 520 conv, then all he did was reduce rolling resistance. i used to run my f3 at the track all the time and then i put the 06 cbr 600 rr on the track and ran a 10.89. if you go off of the specs the guys in the magazines write then your gonna be pissed at yourself, but you gotta concider that those guys have been doing it for years. they also use "corrected" times.

RE: Went to the dragstrip
well on my f3 its best to lauch at around 6kthen wack the throttle open after the clutch is fully engaged, on my buddies 06 ot was best to launch at 4k and wack it open after the clutch is fully engaged. but all my runs were at orlando speedworld dragway. so like d2d said it all depends on the riders and bike and track your at.
