turn led's HELP please

RE: turn led's HELP please
To slow the flash rate on a bike that has a stock flash relay, you'll need resistors if you're installed LEDs. The stock flash relay uses amperage draw to time the flash interval. The less draw, the faster the flash rate. resistors will balance the load back to what the stock rate would be had you not done anything.
conversely, you can replace the stock relay with a time based relay (Called a universal Relay, about $20) which only requires the replacement of the flash relay unit. this enables the use of ANY flash light configuration be it traditional lights paired with LED lights or LED lights all around, or Traditional Lamps all around. it doesn't matter because the flash rate is based off of a timer, not amperage draw. a much easier, and much simpler solution to this whole mess.

RE: turn led's HELP please
+1 ....... I always tell people to forget the resistors and do it right with a new variable load electronic flasher (universal flasher). Adding the resistors is just the quick and dirty way to fix the problem, but the professional way is getting and installing a new flasher.

RE: turn led's HELP please
Instead of adding all the resistors, diodes, or anything else, wouldnt it be simpler to just replace the flasher with a old school style that doesnt have the lamp failure feature built in? I simply unplugged my flasher, put in an old style round flasher w/o the lamp failure feature, and I'm going good. I am using it with the stock rear LED taillamp, and aftermarket front LED's. Not that anyone else's way is wrong, just thinking along the simpler line, thats all.
