In the time it physically takes you to look down at the speedometer,
and your brain to process the numbers 1-6-0..........

................you've just covered 234 feet without looking.

Chilling little fact, that.
Yes, and good for the novice rider to keep in mind...

I'm not a Pro, or even expert level rider yet, but personally I don't look at the speedometer too much.

(Unless I'm in town, and on one of the known ticket trap thoroughfares)

I look at the road, and after years of riding all kinds of bikes, at all kinds of speeds, on all kinds of surfaces, I just "feel" how fast is fast, and how much I need to brake, lean or not lean, etc.

That comes to almost all riders after a few years I think.

But yeah, someone obsessed with only top speeds and looking at their bikes clocks and wristwatches...very good advice there indeed.

you guys are soft but it's all good.

obviously i have no inclination to ride 100+ splitting cars and such. However, when you have a stretch of highway ahead with no visible cars, and you know the conditions of the road from frequent use, I see no reason not to push it a bit. Most of the riders I roll with are careful and don't take many chances. The riders down in south florida must be a different breed. When I ride with guys on 1000s I have to do 150+ just to keep up when the road is clear. This may not be some people's cup of tea and that's great. Some are more cautious and timid than others. Reguardless, the point of this thread was not to get into a discussion of what type of riding that should be done on public highways. Rather, it was merely to see what other current 600 riders have gotten out of their bikes, be it on the track or street. I appreciate everyone's cause for concern. I'm sure most of us have lost a friend or have seen people get seriously hurt on motorcycles. I pray that everyone is safe while riding. I value my life greatly and would never push the envelope far enough to kill myself; that isn't the way I would like to go out or have any friend die like that either.

Back to the topic at hand. I would love for others to post what they have topped out at on their 600's, track or not. Thanks to all and peace and safe riding, especially during the holiday season.

that's a pretty interesting fact. fastest i've gone is 145 i think on the clear, open, endless, road. there was actually a car and a big rig that i passed, and man, you can really tell how fast you really are going when there's another vehicle that you're passing. i noticed after it hit 140 it was accelerating very slowly. otherwise i'd of tried to go faster.

LOL......some may call it intelligence.....others call it soft.

Uhm............I'm not even sure.....maybe you should get a 1000?

I value my life greatly and would never push the envelope far enough to kill myself
That there is a contradiction of terms if I've ever seen it. Did you read the topic of the thread? It's amazing how little it takes to die on a motorcycle on a public road.

We've all done it I'm sure.....I just dont see the point in opening another topic on it every week for an arbitrary number. Please.......enlighten me as I'm curious.

To stay on topic.....
186 displayed on my 1000.....wont read any higher
155 on my 600
177 on my 900RR.
NONE of which are acurate but that's what they said.

125ish is when it starts to accelerate slow..atleast to me.

i've managed 155 indicated.. and it took plenty .. and plenty of road to get there...

Fastest I've had my

2004 600RR up to is just 124. haven't ridden much since I got it.

1992 ZX-6 I think I hit the top speed of that bke which was reportedly a max real world of 154.
The speedo was buried to the limit which if I remember right said top speed was 175 or 180.

1992 FZR 600...I dunno...maybe 130-135.

My 1994 F2...141...would not go any faster. Not even the speedo.

How large is the file?

I'll throw it up on my private server.

(I rent one yearly for about $59 from IPower.)

Check your PM's and if you can send it to my hotmail account...I'll put it up for ya sometime today.
