Is it just me or does the 600RR (I have an 03 with about 4000 miles) have the same cam chain tensor problem resulting in a ticking noice around 2900 - 4500 RPM or so?

When I did my 600 mile service I started noticing a cam chain ticking sound. I took it to another shop and they told me that these 600's are known for this ticking sound. My 05 is said to be tighter, but the noice was obvious. According to the Technician they say that you can change your oil vescocity to quiet down the chain.

But for me on a brand new 05 it was very noticable.

 

So it's pretty much normal and lighter weight oil will result in more sound?

That is what I was told. I am not mechanical by any means, so I took mine in to have the professionals check it out. I am going to check out the conclusion by putting in a different oil next oil change. I am going to talk to them when its done and get their opinion. Unless anyone in the group has thoughts.

I ran gps and it was HELLLLLAAAA LOUD!... switched to r4 superbike, and it quieted down...

Its a normal ticking, listen to 03 gsxr's... THEYRE HELLA LOUD...
