there is a ticking noise in the lower half of the motor, but its only when it is cold (first startup) i thought that maybe someone may have had the same "ticking" not "knocking" sound from their bike 05-06 RR thanks

 

Yup, once it warms up, problem goes away. I here it is pretty common amoung bikes.

 

well since ive had the bike its got a little louder so i didnt know if it was something that i needed to get checked out. ive only heard it with the hondas so i guess its nothing to worry about.

 

I've had that noise before too, my thought's on it are that since the oil sits at the bottom of the motor, when it starts up all the oil has to circulate and takes a moment to get up to the top where you'll hear the lifters clacking a little bit, nothing really to worry about.

 

I have that noice as well. not only when I start up, but when its in low RPM's

 

I had that noise in my car, someone once told me that if you use synthetic you would not get it because it adhered to the parts better, don't know if that is really the case, maybe that would make a good poll. How many here the knocking and what kind of oil do you use?
