This is one of those laws that just bugs the hell out of me. If you're going under 20 and its extremely hot who gives a ****. If they want to pull this then they should mandate full face helmets in all 50 states. I know a giant cicada in the nose or mouth or any other part of my face for that matter is going to certainly "distract" me. They might as well say you have to wear protection over your left eye only if they don't make you cover your whole face.

Based on your account it sounds a bit nit-picky to me. I think this situation may have called for just a warning.

I agree a warning is suffice. I also see alot of moped, scooter, and bike riders without helmet and or visors.

I ride with the 95% down though. Leaving that last click or notch for a little wind to clear up the visor.

Been hit with debris one too many times in car, it hurts, heh can't trust me eyes to my own carelessness.

Wow! As for the ticket, that's a load of bs to me. A warning would have served fine. I guess im stupid but i ride with my shield up until i hit the e-way. I guess the cops around me are lenient but half the people around dont wear a helmet at all. Yes, i have been hit, in the eye, pretty good with debris before(40mph+) but i didnt scream like a girl and crash my bike like an idiot. Just My Opinion.

Actually, here in Mi the law is: 35 mph and under you do NOT have to wear eye protection, anything higher and it must be worn. I would double check your laws.

Yea, you can have it open in Florida as long as your eyes are still covered. I have 2 clicks untilmy eyesare exposed. You can ride around with it cracked to let air in, just not wide open

You should have the option to protest the ticket in court. Dont fear this. I have on several occasions argued about tickets. The outcome is ALWAYS better than paying the ticket (At least for me). Simply explain why your visor was up and make it sound good.

Just my $0.02

I know a little over board but a warning in this case would of been better, in my opionion.
+1
The Law = Okay
The Ticket = The Gay

Warning is enough
