Default tank slappers

The other day I was going down a country road doing about 60 riding relaxed with only one hand on the bars and I hit a bump and my 2003 600rr went in to a tank slapper. I was wondering if the rr's are known for this I just purchased a scotts steering damper so this will not happen again just wondering how common this is hopefully the damper will not let this happen again it scared me to dealth.

I ride some really crappy roads and I have yet to have a problem (knock on wood). You might want to check your suspension settings. How bad was the bump?

This is hilarious...not that you got the slapper, but that you stated the cause so clearly that you missed it...here...let me quote it for you...hold on:

with only one hand on the bars
Be aware of your surroundings and stop being so relaxed on your country rides...the damper is going to be a band aid for the problem of you riding on crappy roads one handed...it's not a problem of the RR, but it's a problem of the RR with someone riding one handed...I'm not saying don't ride one handed, but when you ride one handed be extra alert...you're not the first person to get a slapper from riding one handed and hitting a bump...be careful dude and stay alert no matter what your doing...like the saying goes..."when you least expect it...expect it!"

I think the reason you got the damper is a waste of money.

Ok, I'm done.

No I do relize why it happened and trust me im a lot more alert now and I dont ride one handed to much the damper may be a waste but a lot of my buddies have them and say they like them a lot. I couldnt even tell you how i pulled out of it, it all happened to fast. I really didnt think it was the bike at all but I thought I would ask. Also thanks fretless33 for making look like an *** i'm just kidding i h ad it coming I've only had the bike for about a month and a half and its my first street bike and I have a lot to learn but I do love the bike its awsome. Most fun I've had with my cloths on.

Sorry buddy, that's my blunt, cynical sense of humor again, but I wrote that with no knowledge of your riding experience or saddle time and would have wrote that for anyone...it's just my style [&:]

And that my friends is why the RR comes with ((2)) clip-ons instead of one.

Use them.
