Default Bought a tank bag--found out the tank wasn't metal! Solutions?

I use my bike to commute to work as well as for weekend fun and track days. I bought a tank bag because I bring a shirt with me to change into at work (office) and various other items.

I like the tank-bags because everything stays flat, I can put my I.D. badge in there on the top in the clear pocket, so as not to have to find it when I roll up to the guard I can just point down.

With the tank being plastic or whatever...the bag doesn't work! I was thinking my backpack will work, but then I have the issue of searching for my i.d. at the gate with my heavy gloves on. Are there other options out there?

I bought a magnetic attachment type tank bag for my 08. Although I knew it had a plastic tank shelter I'd read that you could glue magnetic strips on the underside and the tank bag would stick to them. It didn't work in my case.

I returned it and bought a strap version tank bag (Nelson-Rigg CL-135). I believe that particular model has 4 different mounting options but you have to choose which one you want when you order it. There are lots of other strap mount tank bags besides that one. I just liked the features and size of it.

I just bought the icon milspec backpack. It has a place in the front for the id/badge.

I suppose it will have to do for now. The tank bag I've "given" to the Kawasaki 250.

get a strapped bag, make sure it has a quick release so you can fold it up to access the gas tank when filling up.
